A growing film application area in blown film extrusion encompasses the pieces of equipment used to produce wide web films, whose main application areas span from ground covering (mulching and fumigation) to horizontal “silo bags” and greenhouse tunnels coverings.

All these applications have in common a more and more extensive use of tailored coextrusion techniques based on three, five and seven layer structures, often requiring the use of large sized die heads. Subsequently, extra-large cooling rings are required to cool these gigantic bubbles, as well as proportionately large collapsing frames and take-off arrangements. On web descent, Macchi have developed a whole range of folding devices, and dedicated shaft less AFS winding units.
